I'm lucky enough to have a birthday that falls around Melbourne Cup, which usually means a four day long weekend. I woke up to a mountain of delightfully coloured Acne packaging, was taken to breakfast at the Kettle Black (current obsession — this is why), on to a picnic in Carlton Gardens to soak up the delightful sunshine and some tasty D.O.C. delicatessen, a lovely dinner with Marcus at The Town Mouse (this has become a birthday tradition), then finally for drinks with the family. A day that revolved around drinking and dining, but really, what could be better?
So it's been a little while since I have taken photos on my minolta. Alas, I took it out for our little field trip to Heide MoMA last weekend (I posted some iPone shots two posts down from this). I'm so pleased with this roll, I got lots more shots of Emily Floyd's 'Far Rainbow' exhibition, as well as the grounds of Heide. Such a lovely place to spend the day!
Yes, I kind of (definitely) went all out for Valentines this year. I prepared a tasty feast from my trusty Kinfolk Table book, and set up our rooftop as a greenhouse / restaurant / cinema / bedroom, complete with fairylight "be mine" typography. It's actually my favourite thing ever to plan surprise dates for Marcus. The last few photos are just from around the house, a sneaky GIRLS episode, the crazy sunshine that pours into our house in the afternoons, and 'Brooke's Nook' as I like to call it. Every time I walk past Brooke's room, she's styled it some different way or added 80 new plants and other cute bits. I really love this arrangement so I snapped it before she got sick of it and rearranged :)
On the Australia Day long weekend, we escaped to the glorious Great Ocean Road. Right in the hottest part of Summer, it was just the perfect two day get-the-heck-away. Although Victorian beaches are super cold and crisp, it was still so delightful to be in the water, on the sand, and driving the windy roads in the sunshine.
I'll admit these photos were taken around my house, mostly my room, in a dash to use up the roll of film in my camera so I could get my travel photos developed immediately.
1. Some favourite memories from 2013; my 21st invitation, a card from Marcus, a photobooth strip from the Ace Hotel in Portland with Brooke & Marcus, and a little gold foiled card saying 'you're cute' that I found somewhere in New York. 2. A painting Marcus created for me 3. The beginnings of my Aesop collection 4. My Madewell purchases from San Francisco 5. A bracelet from my dad, paired with a wallet from my mum — both given to me while in America 6. Part of my bookshelf 7. My beloved Elvis portrait 8. Marcus' messy bed 9, 10 & 11. Some silly self portraits
Most recent impossible project polaroids.
Oh hey July you sneaky babe. You have been treating us very, VERY well. This month—in particular today—has been AMAZING. Thank you Melbourne for being as truly wonderful as we hoped you would be!
A new creation, and a happy hello from my new home—Melbourne. We made it! Let the fun begin.
